SkinCeuticals has long been committed to researching innovative and effective sunscreen products. At the same time, we have taken great care to ensure the environmental safety of its products in both salt and freshwater environments. Any ingredient called into question for any reason is taken seriously by our team of toxicologists, clinicians, and chemists, who continuously evaluate each and every ingredient we use.
The development of the ideal sunscreen product - which is at once safe, efficient, sensorial, and eco-responsible - remains a major priority for SkinCeuticals. We use a very limited number of inorganic and organic ultraviolet filters in our products, and their concentrations are rigorously selected to ensure the correct level of product performance in strict compliance with international regulations wherever our products are sold. Today, coral reef scientific experts agree that coral bleaching is mainly due to global warming and very little to other causes (acidification, overfishing, urban discharges, sunscreen filters, etc.).
In addition, our parent company, L'Oréal, partners with the Scientific Centre of Monaco, developing a method to evaluate the impact of sunscreen products on corals. They published their joint research in a leading scientific journal. The study shows that corals exposed for 5 weeks to 5 UV filters used in cosmetics had no impact on the coral’s photosynthetic abilities, even when the filters were tested at concentrations far above those measured in the marine environment.
