Morpheus8 at a Glance
The Morpheus8 is a combo microneedling and radiofrequency device that delivers fractional radiofrequency energy beyond the layers of the skin and into the subdermal tissue via interchangeable tips with various pin configurations and a maximum penetration depth of 4mm and an additional 1mm of tissue heating ability.3 The polymer coated needles may be adjusted to reach various depths, delivering a thermal injury that instigates the natural wound response. As the skin heals, production of essential skin structure proteins such as collagen and elastin is increased as well as moisture-retaining polysaccharides such as hyaluronic acid. The result is a tightened appearance to the skin and an increase of youthful “plumpness”.
The Morpheus8 system includes dual handpieces and 4 Morpheus microneedling tips with different configurations for increased versatility and customization in a Morpheus skin treatment. Unlike some other RF microneedling devices, the Morpheus8 Body handpiece allows for treatment of the body, with popular areas being the abdomen, buttocks and thighs.
What to Know About Morpheus8
One of the key advantages to the Morpheus skin treatment is the deep, controlled delivery of radiofrequency energy, reducing the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in all tones of skin. Because of the depth reached and the ability to customize the output of RF energy, Morpheus8 can be safely used on darker skin tones.45 Patients particularly prone to hyperpigmentation may be prescribed a hydroquinone cream or other pigment inhibitor before and after a Morpheus skin treatment.
